Hey friends - Miss Makena here!
This month’s craft is one I used to do when I was growing up to make easy holiday decorations. We’d pick out a seasonal design and a piece of canvas fabric, transfer the design, color it in, set it with an iron, and then sew it to another piece of fabric to make a little decor pillow!
We’ll be taking a spin on this idea for our in-person programs where we’ll be coloring the design on a tote bag - perfect for trick-or-treating and using as a library book bag! At home you can follow the steps below to make your own spooky bag, shirt, or pillow - if you dare!
Don’t want to make a project? These creatively designed templates are perfect Halloween coloring pages. Print out as many as your heart desires and color away!

INSTRUCTIONS
Print out your template.
Place the template about center in your tote bag. (If the design is hard to see, you can tape your project to a window and use the backlight to help see the design better).
Trace the design onto your bag.
Remove the template from your bag.
Use crayons to color in your design.
Place parchment paper over the colored design and apply an iron on a medium setting for about 5-10 seconds to all parts of the design.
Take your new Halloween bag trick-or-treating or to your next library visit!
